Quilting Basics
A three part class that can be taken consecutively or as single classes that suit your schedule and needs. The class topics are designed for the beginning quilter or an intermediate quilter needing some refreshers. Participants should have basic sewing machine knowledge. You can bring your own machine or use one of our Elna machines. Please indicate your preference when you register.

Class 1 - introduces the basic information you will need to know about quilting: correct use of cutting with a rotary cutter, sewing perfect 1/4" seams, color value, and choosing your fabric for your 2nd & 3rd class.
Class 2 - you will be learning the following blocks: Star, Flying Geese, Nine Patch, Traditional Nine Patch Unit, and the Railroad Crossing. In addition, you will learn to make Half Square Triangles.
Class 3 - you will learn how to put your squares together into a quilt top, how to create the quilt "sandwich", and binding techniques.

T-shirt Quilt
Dates: Saturdays, February 13th & 20th, March 6th & 13th Time: 6;00pm - 9:00pm Teacher: Helga Diggelmann Cost: $35.00 per class ($140.00 for the series)
Create a beautiful, lasting memory with your personal t-shirts. You will need 12 - 20 pre-selected t-shirts for this project.
This is not a beginner sewing project - you should have good basic sewing skills using a sewing machine.
Learn techniques to prepare your t-shirts for your quilt (properly stabilize), plan a layout, select fabrics for your quilt, cut and sew your sashings, and putting it all together and adding the border. In the final class, you will learn about adding the backing, quilting options, labels and making the binding.
For homework each week you will need to complete the steps learned in class to be ready for the next session.

Cost $25.00 per class, includes fabric, pattern & accessory kit Diane will lead you through the steps for creating each block (cottage). She will be available after class for additional help. This is a beautiful 70" x 70" quilt that features 5 adorable cottages, quilt is bordered by a picket fence complete with adornments for each home. Nearly all fabrics are the same as used in the original quilt.

Learn the English technique of paper-piecing for the most accurate point and block construction. You will be using the book "Quilts With Attitude" by Deb Karasik (purchase required if you do not have it) as you learn this technique.

Heirloom I Notebook
Teacher: Jennelle Robertson Class Dates (2 classes): Next Class Dates To Be determined Class Time: 6:00 – 9:00 PM Class Cost: $50.00 + $20.00 for kit
Make your own notebook of techniques on how to do "french Hand sewing" on your sewing machine. When you are finished, you will be a pro at rolling and whipping, lace insertion, puffing, and working with entredeux and lace. Kit will be furnished at the first class ($20.00).
This class is required to join the “Heirloom Block of the Month” which will be starting in January.

Come learn the next techniques in heirloom sewing.
You will learn many lace shapes. How to combine your lace shapes to form borders.
You know how to do pintucks, now learn to do shaping with them.
Create a scalloped pintuck hem and combine pintucks with your lace shapes.
Create shapes also with lace tape.

| Where'd That 9-Patch Go?

Take a 9-patch block and toss it and turn it. Wait until you see how great it looks. Once you make this quilt you'll want to make more and Joan will show you how easy it is! To speed things up the students should precut 1/2 yard of nine fabrics: 5 darks & 4 lights of 5 inch squares. Bring extra fabric in case of errors or color indecision.

| Mystery Quilt

If you love mysteries or puzzles, this is the class for you! We'll spend the day sewing the squares for your quilt, with a lunch break in between. The quilt's mystery is revealed as Joan steps you through the instructions. This class is perfect for all skill levels.... you'll do some pre-cutting at home, then join us for a fun day of sewing!
